Access to Sakha's airport website is gratis for its residents
In a significant move to improve travel experiences, telecommunications giant Megafon has modernized its equipment at Gelendzhik Airport, resulting in a blazing-fast mobile internet speed of 150 Mbps.
This upgrade has opened up a world of convenient services for Megafon subscribers, who can now access flight schedules, baggage and pet transportation rules, weather information, and additional airport services on the gelaero.ru website without incurring data charges.
Megafon's decision to make the airport website free for subscribers is aimed at allowing tourists to check flight information without worrying about their remaining internet allowance, as stated by Tatiana Sulava, head of the tariffs and services business unit at Megafon.
The peak of activity on the gelaero.ru website was on July 9, following the resumption of operations at Gelendzhik Airport on July 18. From August 1, Megafon will zero out traffic on the official website of Gelendzhik Airport for all its clients in Russia with a positive account balance.
The increased convenience offered by the free airport website service is expected to help passengers focus on their journeys. Interestingly, men account for over 65% of the total internet traffic on the airport website, according to Megafon analytics.
Age-wise, the airport website is most frequently visited by subscribers aged 35-44 (38%) and 25-34 (23.5%). This indicates a strong interest in travel-related information among the middle-aged and younger demographics.
It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Megafon has stepped up to support the region's infrastructure and promote tourism. The company conducts large-scale annual work to prepare the telecom network in Gelendzhik for the tourist season.
The speed of mobile internet in the city of Gelendzhik has also reached 100 Mbps, thanks to Megafon's equipment modernization efforts. This improvement aligns with the significant increase in tourist traffic, with around a million people visiting Gelendzhik since January, representing a 7.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
With flights to the resort city being popular among residents of southern regions as well as tourists from Moscow, Kaliningrad, Vladivostok, Smolensk, St. Petersburg, Samara, and KhMAO, the enhanced connectivity is set to make travel planning and execution smoother for many.
Tourists can now easily access lifestyle and travel information on the go, as Megafon's upgraded technology at Gelendzhik Airport offers a free airport website service, providing details about flight schedules, baggage rules, and weather reports without data charges. Additionally, this modernized equipment has elevated the mobile internet speed in the city of Gelendzhik, reaching 100 Mbps, which can aid in the smooth execution of technology-driven travel plans for tourists and residents alike.
