Arrested in Frankfurt at Sachsenhausen for charges of robbery and larceny
In a recent development, Frankfurt Police Headquarters has announced that a 29-year-old individual has been taken into custody in connection with a theft that occurred on September 7, 2025, at around 8:10 PM near the Main riverbank in Frankfurt.
According to information transmitted via news aktuell from Frankfurt Police Headquarters, the incident involved a 26-year-old woman and her 21-year-old companion. An unknown male approached them suspiciously and stole the woman's backpack.
Shortly after the incident, the victim noticed her wallet was missing and chased after the suspect. However, the suspect sprayed her with pepper spray, causing her to retreat. Soon after, the victim received a message on her smartphone that someone was trying to pay at a nearby kiosk using a card from her stolen wallet.
The responding police officers couldn't find the suspect at the kiosk but obtained a suitable image of him from the security camera. Later, a 22-year-old reported that he had been bumped into by a man around 9:50 PM in the area of Schweizer Straße. The 22-year-old later noticed the loss of his mobile phone and searched the area with a police patrol, recognizing the man who had bumped into him as the suspect.
Upon reviewing video footage, the police officers saw the 29-year-old dropping the stolen phone. The phone was found on the ground and returned to the 22-year-old. The police officers did not find the stolen device on the 29-year-old.
The 29-year-old is staying in the federal territory illegally. The young woman was slightly injured in the incident. Her companion tried to continue the chase but lost sight of the suspect.

It is worth noting that a 29-year-old man mentioned in Augsburg related to a different case involving sexual misconduct may or may not be the same individual in question. However, no direct link to the riverbank theft or the arrest in question is evident from these results. The 29-year-old has been taken into custody for a judicial hearing.
