DesignDash's High Point Insights - Spring 2024

The team adored Hudson Valley Lighting Group's Corbett collection, Thom Filicia's latest pieces at Vanguard, the lively, playful accessories at MadeGoods, and the feminine, gleaming hardware at Modern Matter.
Post-midday adventures, Melissa, Laura, and the Dasher Network tipped their glasses at the Four Hands party, where they exchanged inspiring ideas and celebrated their MasterMind's progress!
Hot Trends Spotted At The Market
Revamped Traditional Patterns
A creative edge was added this year to age-old patterns, transfiguring them into modern gems. Placing traditionally masculine motifs in a contemporary context refreshed space with charming, elegant, and striking accessories, upholstery, and other soft finishes.
Thom Filicia's newest collection at Vanguard boasted a myriad of lively stripes and plaids. Melissa adored these earthy, trendy patterns that effortlessly spiced up furniture without looking heavy or passé.
Color-Popping Contrasts
Bold, brilliant colors in striking contrasts reigned over the market, adding lively, energetic ambiance to contemporary living spaces. Artfully junking contrasts with deep, saturated colors, designers created spaces that exhilarated with their modernity and warmth.
MadeGoods' vivacious new accessory collection burst with bright, eye-catching hues, injecting a breath of fresh air into classic black and white interiors.
Green is the New Neutral
Sustainability continued to be a driving force in the international design community, and this trend was apparent in High Point's showcases. Manufacturers and designers focused on eco-friendly practices to create durable, fashionable pieces that catered to environmentally conscious consumers.
Cisco Home, Lee Industries, Greenington, Copeland Furniture, and JIMECO all hosted sustainable offerings during the event. The Antonia en Bleu collection from JIMECO exhibited at Fine Art Handcrafted Lighting's showroom reflected the company's ongoing commitment to sustainable sourcing, blending Colombian artisanal craftsmanship with sustainable goat skin parchment.
Femininity in full bloom!
In line with DesignDash's commitment to female empowerment, the market showcased a vibrant enthusiasm for celebrating femininity within designs. The floral-inspired hardware from Modern Matter and the uber-feminine Antonia en Bleu collection embodied graceful and delicate aesthetics, offering a refreshing counterpoint to traditionally masculine styles.
Where We Put Our Heads
Our team perched at the Courtyard Marriott in Greensboro this year. Although not the swankiest of hotels, this charming High Point hotel popped up just a quick 20-minute ride from the market. Local eats were at arm's reach, and the hotel boasted a fully-equipped kitchen. Easy access paired with practical accommodations made the Courtyard Marriott an excellent choice for our visit!
Stay tuned as we return to High Point Market in October, building on the fireworks we sparked in our MasterMind cohort this spring! Until then, keep creating, and happy designing!
