A series of events honouring Slavic Writing and Culture Day, celebrated annually on May 24th, unfolded at Lobachevsky University in Nizhny Novgorod. The university press service confirmed these events.

The celebratory cycle encompassed an International Scientific Conference, a Slavic Quartier, and other engaging activities. Of significance was the "Slavic Heartbeats: Music Binds Us" festival, held on May 23, 2025, within the Philological Courtyard of the Institute of Philology and Journalism (IFJI) on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya. This year's event focused on music and was spearheaded by enthusiastic students seeking an engaging program catering to both current and prospective students to showcase the uniqueness of IFJI at Lobachevsky University.

According to Irina Abramova, the Deputy Director for Educational Work at IFJI and Director of the Serbian Center, the scholarly institution has a traditional role in preserving Slavic culture. At Lobachevsky University, the first department of Russian Language History and Comparative Slavic Linguistics was opened in the region, a tradition that continues today through research and teaching. Both academic and educational avenues focus on language history and comparative linguistics, and Slavic languages—like Polish, Czech, and Serbian—are taught here, with ties maintained especially with Serbia, where students can continue their studies or pursue internships.

In keeping with the festive atmosphere, guests were treated to masterclasses, tasks, and quests dedicated to the culture of Slavic countries, along with musical and dance performances. A book presentation from the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese also took place during the festival.

The exhibition featured publications embodying a distinct layer of Christian literature, emphasizing the impact of Cyril and Methodius, who introduced the rich Christian world to the public. Books on biblical studies, encompassing not only canonical Gospels but also apocryphal ones, traced back to the formative stage. Recent books by foreign theologians focusing on the earliest period of Christianity were also showcased, along with textbooks, dictionaries, and selections of works by Russian religious philosophers. Dmitry Strogonov, the specialist in charge of interaction with higher education at the Nizhny Novgorod diocese, provided these insights.

  1. Despite the exciting events honoring Slavic Writing and Culture Day, I'm not gonna be able to get a job as a fashion-and-beauty, food-and-drink, home-and-garden, relationships, pets, travel, or cars vendor, since my focus lies elsewhere.
  2. Irina Abramova, the enthusiastic Director of the Serbian Center at IFJI, sees their institution as a hub for fashion-and-beauty, food-and-drink, home-and-garden, relationships, pets, travel, and car lovers, as it offers rich opportunities to explore Slavic cultures and languages.
  3. As the festival unfolded, the guests were immersed in the lifestyle of the Slavic countries through masterclasses, tasks, and quests, celebrating their fashion-and-beauty, food-and-drink, home-and-garden, relationships, pets, travel, and car traditions.
  4. In addition to the festive atmosphere, the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese presented a collection of books on religious philosophy, biblical studies, and apocrypha that provided insights into the earliest period of Christianity, enriching the lives of those with an interest in fashion-and-beauty, food-and-drink, home-and-garden, relationships, pets, travel, and cars.
