Celebrations Erupt in Wiesbaden

In the heart of Germany, the historic city of Wiesbaden has taken a significant step forward in event safety with the implementation of advanced access protection measures, particularly for the popular Rheingau Wine Week festival.

Building and Traffic Commissioner Andreas Kowol stated that these new measures provide the city police with the necessary security to perform their duties effectively. The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden published this press release from Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden.

The city has invested around 2.8 million euros in the expanded access protection for municipal events. Wiesbaden has acquired various access barrier systems, including 30 Octabloque TRs, 60 Armis One, and 150 Armis Go barrier systems. The Armis Go barrier system, introduced in June 2025, is a market novelty.

The new access barriers create practical prerequisites for effective protection and ensure that inner-city event areas remain vibrant places. Ordnungsdezernentin Maral Koohestanian emphasized that the new access protection measures are a "visible sign of cleverly developed security measures."

These new measures are being used for the first time nationwide. They represent a comprehensive model of event security that integrates admission control, personal protection, and risk analysis tailored to the event's specific needs. This approach reduces security risks such as unauthorized access, overcrowding, and smuggling of dangerous items.

The strict admission control systems help prevent unauthorized entry and maintain orderly access. Risk assessments are conducted to anticipate and mitigate potential hazards such as crowd density issues, escape routes, and technical dangers. Cooperation with local authorities like police and fire departments ensures coordinated responses. Personal protection is provided for prominent guests and VIPs to manage high-risk situations safely.

During a joint walkthrough of the event area, the new barriers were inspected and explained by specialized personnel. Citizens can contact the responsible department or office with any questions regarding the new access protection measures.

The Rheingau Wine Week, a staple of local wine culture and a place for people to meet, takes a pioneering role in event safety. By implementing these advanced access protection measures, Wiesbaden has mastered event safety despite intensified and short-term police recommendations. These measures align with best practices recommended for safe event management, setting a new standard for event security in Germany.
