In an unexpected turn of events, Basel-Mulhouse EuroAirport, situated on French territory, witnessed a series of flight cancellations on Thursday afternoon. The cancellations affected both departures and arrivals, causing disruptions to travel plans for many.

The affected flights totaled 25, as reported by the airport authorities. This disruption also extended to high-speed rail traffic between France and Switzerland, with TGV Lyria cancelling several trains. Two trains from Paris to Geneva, one train between Geneva and Paris, and a connection between Lausanne and Paris were among the cancelled services.

TGV Lyria, a company that operates high-speed connections between Switzerland and France, implemented these cancellations. However, the search results do not provide information on the person or institution responsible for the prohibition of TGV trains between Lausanne and Paris on Thursday.

Despite the chaos at Basel-Mulhouse EuroAirport, Geneva Airport reported no current announcements about flight cancellations to or from Geneva. A spokesperson for Swiss Air Lines confirmed that all flights at Geneva Airport should be operated according to the normal flight schedule.

On the other hand, no information on flight cancellations was available from Zurich Airport.

In response to the flight cancellations, a minimum air traffic control service was established at Basel-Mulhouse EuroAirport to manage the remaining flights and ensure passenger safety.

This incident underscores the importance of clear communication and swift action in managing such disruptions to ensure the safety and convenience of passengers. As the situation develops, updates will be provided to keep travellers informed.
