Springtime's here and it's time to refresh your spring table decor! Want a killer tablescape that'll make your guests' jaws drop? Let's get started, you crafty mofo!
I'm all about design and having a blast whilst entertaining, so a fab looking tablescape is just as vital as my kickass home decor. I aim to kill it with a theme, so naturally, I adore adding spring decor elements to elevate the mood during those epic dinner parties! But creating a tasteful spring-inspired table decor isn't always a walk in the park, especially when it comes to blending those rad spring vibes effortlessly. That's why I tapped some design experts to spill the tea on their top tips for rocking a spring tablescape. Here are their five tips to level up your spring table decor game!
1. Bring on the Blooms, Bitch!
"The greening of the earth feels re-freaking-juvenating, so it's no surprise I turn to the garden for my springtime tabletop inspo!" says interior designer Gary McBournie. Fresh flowers straight from Mother Nature are a goddamn must for any spring-themed table.
"Popping flowers kick up the color, charm, and whimsy on the table, especially when that spring air is crisp and the trees are still in the buff," shares creative director and co-founder Ashley Stark. "Fresh florals add life and warmth, providing a cozy ambiance that perfectly embodies the essence of the season." So go wild! Use actual or faux flowers to bring your spring table decor ideas to life. Tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, or even ranunculus or tulips are all fantastic options.
When it comes to vases, you've got a shitload of options. Rattan vases or floral ceramic styles can totally make your table feel oh-so-springy, but try something a bit more unique – bud vases! Bud vases can be a whimsical and easy way to create a spring floral centerpiece, says expert entertainer Mary Hollis Huddleston. "Clustering my bud vases in mass down the center of the table using one floral varietal makes a colorful statement without much moolah or effort involved," she says.
2. Flaunt Your Floral Dishes
Springtime means embracing nature's beauty like a boss, so don't be stingy with those floral deets! In addition to a million fresh florals, opt for some dishware with the same juicy detail to double up on the spring energy. "The more flowers the better," swears Mary Hollis Huddleston, author and home entertainment expert from Tennessee. "I pull out all my flora- and fauna-painted dishware as soon as there's even the whiff of spring. Layering on my tables adds so much JOY to a tablescape. The patterns and vibrant colors provide easy inspiration for the rest of the table deets."
Look for dish styles with a solid white base and floral detailing or a pitcher brimming with florals and vines.
3. Set the Fucking Scene with Charger Plates
Charger plates can do more than just protect your tablecloth – they can also seriously elevate your spring tablescape! Charger plates act as a foundation for your dinnerware. "I dig layering a woven charger," says Kimberly Power, creative director of Kimberly Power Creative. "There's an insane variety of styles, colors, and patterns out there. It's a great way to bring texture to the table while also keeping it a little less formal."
4. Decorate with Damn Produce
Putting fresh produce into play – like lemons, apricots, or grapefruits – on a silver platter or in a bowl adds some serious freshness to your spring table. Or, if you don't have fresh produce lying around, buff those ceramic or glass fruit figurines! Friday, Mary says, "Whether it's fresh strawberries from a farmer's market or hand-painted ceramic oranges, it'll add a playful and unexpected touch to your spring table."
5. Add Place Cards for Personalization
Place cards are a small table deets that can make all the freaking difference to your spring tablescape. "I always use place cards when hosting, 'cause people like to know where their seat is – it instantly removes that dilemma of not knowing where to sit and helps them get their head into the party," says founder and creative director Molly Mahon. "Adding place cards is another easy opportunity to decorate your table and show your guests how much you care about them – making them feel welcome is the whole point of any social occasion."
Go get 'em, tiger! A beautifully set spring table will leave your guests stunned and full of love for your mad decor skills!
