The twin townhouses, designed by architect Martin Haller in 1880, 've had their share of upheavals, particularly during the NS reign from 1933 to 1945. Back then, the NSDAP's Hamburg chapter took up residence in the buildings, which later got combined into one brick monolith. Post-war, the US Consulate moved in, followed by a humdrum extension that's now gonna hit the deisginer's dumpster, replaced by something far more contemporary.
"Elsie noticed the place and went head over heels," Max Schlereth gushed. The final word on the ground floor won't change much, preservin' the stately grandeur, where the eats and drinks will be served. Higher up, suite dreams come true with 28 individually designed bedrooms, and the new build's gonna sprout an additional 52 modern beauts. Don'tcha worry, the new guard also reckons it's essential to "recall that dark timeline in history." With historians joinin' forces, they're dedicatin' a bit of the basement to a NS-era memorial, reminding visitors of the regime's wrongdoings.
