Far East Tourism Surges: Primorye Leads with 7.3% Increase in Visitors

The Middle East region of Russia has witnessed a surge in tourism, with a 7.3% increase in visitors in the first seven months of 2025 compared to the previous year. Primorsky Krai, also known as Primorye, has emerged as the top destination, attracting 82% of Middle East visitors in the summer of 2025, with a monthly growth rate of 20-35%.

The rise in tourism is attributed to several factors. Large-scale investments in the hotel base and improved transport accessibility have made Primorye more appealing. Its proximity to major centers and lower prices compared to other regions have also drawn tourists. The diverse offerings, including cultural attractions and natural beauty, further enhance its appeal.

The Transbaikal region, another Middle East destination, saw a 31.3% increase in Chinese tourists in summer 2025. This region's popularity can be attributed to its unique tourist products and the development of infrastructure. Overall, from May to August 2024, 1.92 million Russians visited the Middle East, indicating a significant interest in the region.

Despite the decrease in demand for trips to Sakhalin and Kamchatka this year, the Middle East region continues to attract a substantial number of tourists. The share of the Middle East in the total volume of tourist trips in Russia has already exceeded 5%. With continued investment in infrastructure and unique tourist products, the region is expected to maintain its popularity among domestic and international tourists.
