Indian Travellers Embrace Digital Health Passports for Safer Travel
Indian travellers are embracing digital solutions to enhance their travel confidence. On-trip notifications, mobile payments, and facial recognition top their preferences. Notably, 93% are comfortable using a digital health passport, with 79% willing to store travel health data electronically for faster, less interactive travel.
A digital health passport, offering transparency and control, appeals to a majority of Indian travellers. However, 28% express concerns about data sharing, and 34% worry about data security risks. Gen Z travellers, at 12%, are the least comfortable with digital health passports. Despite these reservations, 47% are eager to book international travel within six weeks of restrictions lifting.
To address data concerns, 80% would be more likely to store health data on a secured app if a travel provider partners with a trusted healthcare provider. Amadeus, a leading travel technology company, is collaborating with major digital identity and health technology firms in Europe to develop and implement digital health passports. Moreover, 53% of Indian travellers would be comfortable using a digital passport if it was internationally accepted and regulated.
