Introducing a bit of tradition at home: Our narrative at Marigold & Ash

In the heart of North America, a new service is making waves among Hindu families seeking to preserve their cultural heritage while navigating the challenges of busy modern lives. Marigold & Ash, founded in 2024, is a one-stop solution for celebrating cherished occasions with authenticity and ease.

Adithi Menon, Co-Founder of Marigold & Ash, drew inspiration for the service from her personal experience. Recognising the difficulties faced by families in maintaining traditional practices while living far from India, she teamed up with fellow co-founder, Shivani Patel, to create a solution. As a mom raising a daughter in the US, Shivani understood the challenges of passing on meaningful traditions.

Marigold & Ash's puja boxes are thoughtfully curated kits designed to help modern Hindu families in North America easily and meaningfully celebrate traditional Indian rituals at home. These boxes contain all the necessary prayer items needed to perform rituals, such as flowers (including marigold, which is traditional for Hindu ceremonies), incense, roli, kumkum, diyas, and other essential items, along with clear instructions to guide families through the rituals.

The boxes simplify the sometimes complex or hard-to-source components for traditional pujas, making ancient rituals accessible. By including all required items in one package, families save time searching for individual puja materials and reduce the burden on busy schedules.

The curated boxes are tailored to be family-friendly, helping Hindu parents introduce and involve their children in celebrating sacred rituals in a modern North American context. Through beautiful presentation and thoughtful curation, these boxes help transform home pujas into joyful, sacred occasions that honour Indian heritage while adapting to diaspora life.

Marigold flowers, commonly used in Hindu ceremonies for decoration and offerings because of their auspiciousness, often are included in these boxes or decor schemes to maintain authenticity and traditional symbolism.

This year, Marigold & Ash launched a Diwali puja kit, available for shipping across the US, one to two weeks before Diwali. The puja boxes are guided by a Vedic priest to ensure the sacredness of ancient prayers is honoured.
