The LEGO Group has introduced a new set inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration, a festival with roots tracing back to pre-Hispanic times. The set, known as the LEGO Day of the Dead collection, is now available for purchase online.

The LEGO Day of the Dead set includes elements representative of Mexican observances, such as marigolds, papel picado, and candles. It features two models: the LEGO Skull and the LEGO Altar.

The LEGO Skull, according to Bricks Up, showcases a plain white appearance with large open eyes, a small triangular nose, and more white around its teeth. The set's two sides feature a sugar skull on one side and an altar to the dead on the other. The set also includes various flowers that can be placed on the brick-built skull and a floral arch display.

The LEGO Altar, on the other hand, displays tiles resembling traditional Day of the Dead altar items, such as papel picado, photographs of pets, candles, flowers, and models of food and drink, including pan de muerto. The set uses seasonal colors in its design.

The official price of the Day of the Dead collection is listed as 349 pesos in Mexico and US $19.99 in the United States, making it an affordable ornament, as described by the newspaper Informador. The set contains 231 pieces and measures approximately 9 cm in height, 8 cm in width, and 10 cm in depth.

The LEGO Day of the Dead set has been covered by various media outlets, including El Universal, Bricks Up, and La Prensa. The holiday itself, which occurs on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2, has spread to various parts of the world, and LEGO's new edition based on Mexico's Day of the Dead celebration is a testament to its global appeal.
