Marie-Curie High School Establishes New Foundation, Courtesy of Anke Henrich, Offers European Exploration Opportunities for MCG Pupils
The Marie Grenzenlos foundation, established under the Bürgerstiftung, is a support initiative at the European School Neuss that offers students the opportunity to embark on international stays, promoting intercultural learning and personal development.
This foundation, made possible by a generous donation from school principal Anke Henrich, provides scholarships and funding for students to participate in international experiences such as language immersions, cultural exchanges, or educational trips. This aligns with the school's focus on international education and intercultural understanding.
The board of trustees, which includes Barbel Kremers-Gerads, Wolfgang Steinert, Dieter Steins, principal Anke Henrich, and her daughter Carlotta Berlett (if necessary), has the final say after reviewing the student's personally written application. Wolfgang Steinert, deputy chairman of BÜNE and tax advisor, also checks the eligibility for the international stay. The eligibility criteria are similar to those for a student receiving BAföG (federal educational assistance).
Grade 10 students (EF level) at MCG can apply for an international stay of up to six months. The students aim to visit countries like Sweden, Holland, England, and Poland during their international stay. However, it's important to note that academic success should not be compromised, with performances needing to be at least "satisfactory".
Anke Henrich, the principal of MCG, stated that it will take several years for all the money in the foundation to be used. Currently, two thirds of the donation benefit MCG students, with one third going into the foundation's capital.
If you are interested in applying for the international stay or need more detailed information about the foundation’s current activities or application procedures, I recommend consulting directly with the European School Neuss or their official website for the most accurate and updated details.
The Marie Grenzenlos foundation is a consumption foundation, meaning that it does not deplete the capital of the Bürgerstiftung entirely. Instead, one third of the donation goes into the foundation's capital, ensuring its sustainability for future students.
In fostering these international opportunities, the European School Neuss continues to emphasize its commitment to the idea of Europe, providing students with a global perspective and the skills necessary to thrive in an interconnected world.
The Marie Grenzenlos foundation, by providing scholarships and funding for young students, encourages them to embark on a travel lifestyle that includes language immersions, cultural exchanges, and educational trips, thus promoting education-and-self-development and intercultural learning. As the foundation's capital is sustained for future students, it ensures the continuation of this young lifestyle opportunity and the school's commitment to fostering a global perspective among its students.
