Nordhorn Seniors Enjoy Fully Booked Day Trip Led by Mayor Berling
Nordhorn's seniors enjoyed a fully booked day trip this year, organized by the city. The journey, led by Mayor Thomas Berling, was filled with activities and ended with a return to the Nordhorner ZOB at 18:30.
The day began with Mayor Berling updating the participants about Nordhorn's current developments. Initially planned to continue to Porta Westfalica, the trip was altered due to low water levels. Instead, the group spent a pleasant afternoon in Dreierwalde, savouring coffee, cake, and snacks with the mayor.
The trip commenced with five fully occupied buses transporting the seniors to the Mindener Weser promenade. Aboard the passenger ship 'Poseidon', the group embarked on an approximately three-hour journey along the Weser and Mittelland Canal. The boat trip included two lockages through the new Weser lock in Minden, which was completed last year.
Around 250 seniors participated in the varied journey, which combined a bus and boat tour. Despite the change in plans, the trip provided a memorable experience for the Nordhorn seniors.
