Pre-start festivities in Travemünde

The much-anticipated Travemünde Week is set to return from July 21st to 30th, 2023. This annual event, a combination of festival and regattas, promises a thrilling mix of sailing races, cultural events, and maritime festivities.

Sailing Regattas

The Baltic Sea will play host to numerous sailing regattas during the Travemünde Week. Some of the notable competitions include the World Championships for Formula 18, 49er Junior, 49erFX Junior, and J/22, the European Championship for O-Jolle, and various ranking regattas for German Open 12'-Dinghy, Finn Dinghy, Hobie 16, Dyas, Kielzugvogel, and Korsar. Additionally, the International German Championships for ORC Offshore Regatta, Dragon, Offshore Double Hand, and Formula Kite will take place from July 22nd to 25th and July 27th to 30th. The Sailing Champions League Final and the 1st and 2nd Segelbundesliga will take place on July 28th to 30th.

Cultural Programme

As evening falls, the festival atmosphere on land comes alive with music and dance. The Festival Stage in the Brüggmann Garden will feature a diverse lineup, including Michael Schulte, Westfalia Big Band, Travemünde Shanty Choir, Abba Fever, Jessica Lynn & Band, and Meny Wappler Swingtett, among others. The Gipsey Village on the Strandpromenade will host performances by the Meny Wappler Swingtett, Anthony Bauer jr., The Blue Circle, Swing Gipsy Rose, Stardust & Randolph Rose, and more, although specific dates are yet to be announced.

The Slowdown Stage in BeachBay Priwall will offer a varied programme, with acts such as The BayBand, Leticia Bienvenido Latinoamerica, Murphy Smith & Band, and planetbod performing. The dance program is expanded by a diverse stage program on the König Pilsener Stage at the North Pier, featuring German pop, folk-pop, and rock party classics.

Food and Leisure

The culinary offerings at the Travemünde Week cater to a variety of tastes, with options ranging from exotic Indian cuisine to food trucks, fries, sausages, and more. Shopping and relaxation are the focus at the northern end of the festival area during the Travemünde Week.

Dance Courses

For those eager to learn, various dance courses are offered at the Dance Palace at the Ferry Terminal in July, including West Coast Swing, Disco Fox, and Tango.

The Children's Play Area

The Brüggemann Garden hosts a large children's play area during the Travemünde Week, providing entertainment for the younger visitors.
