The Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wattenmeer National Park, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, invites visitors to immerse themselves in a unique and unforgettable nature experience. With a plethora of activities and events planned for 2025, there's never been a better time to explore this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Silent Wadden Sea walks with national park guide Jenny Buchner offer a peaceful and mindful connection to nature. For those seeking a more active adventure, the Perlebucht family lagoon in Büsum provides space for swimming, splashing, kitesurfing, or stand-up paddling, offering a breathtaking view of the mudflats.

Flights from Husum-Schwesing airport provide an impressive spectacle, making the dimensions of the National Park tangible. Sailing tours from Husum allow guests to explore the coast and seal banks, offering a chance to witness the fascinating wildlife and vastness of the National Park up close.

The Schutzstation Wattenmeer, supported by volunteers, is committed to education, protection, and encounters in the National Park at 18 locations along the coast. Visitors can also learn about the Wadden Sea at the National Park Houses in St. Peter-Ording and Föhr, which feature interactive exhibitions, panoramic views, and aquariums.

The Multimar Wattforum in Tönning is the largest information center for the National Park, featuring large aquariums, an exciting whale exhibition, and numerous interactive stations. Special mobility-friendly mudflat chairs are available on the North Strand Peninsula for guests with limited mobility to venture into the mudflats.

Water sports and board activities like beginner surf courses and sailing experiences, canoe and SUP tours, are planned for the summer months. Cultural and maritime festivals along the coast, such as the Husum Harbour Days, will also take place during this period, offering a blend of culture and nature.

Guided seal-watching boat trips in the Wadden Sea around Sylt, aboard traditional fishing cutters, offer close encounters with resting seals and the unique tidal ecosystem. Educational experiences at visitor centers like the Wattenmeer Besucherzentrum near Cuxhaven, which offers exhibitions on the Wadden Sea's ecology and mudflat tours to explore the biodiversity at close range, are also available.

The action week "West Coast Bird Watching" from September 27th to October 5th, 2025, includes the bus tour "Birds Galore" through Dithmarschen. For those who wish to explore the Wadden Sea with their furry friends, the mudflat tour "With Dog into the Sea" from Büsum allows two-legged and four-legged friends to experience the Wadden Sea World Heritage site together.

Remember, the National Park Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wattenmeer is strictly protected, and visitors are encouraged to be mindful and respectful of flora and fauna during their visits. As the Wadden Sea in autumn is particularly impressive due to the migration of millions of birds, it's an ideal time to plan a visit.
