Saint Petersburg Tops Russian Autumn Holiday Destinations, Sochi Close Behind
A recent study by an unidentified research body has revealed the top 10 Russian cities favoured by locals for autumn holidays. The findings, based on accommodation bookings between September and October, saw Saint Petersburg secure the top spot, with Sochi closely following.
Sochi, known for its Black Sea coastline and winter sports facilities, proved a popular choice for autumn getaways. The city's average daily accommodation rate stood at approximately 2,500 rubles. The ranking was published by booking service Tvil.ru, which analysed reservations made between September 1 and October 31.
Other cities making the top 10 list include Yalta, Kazan, Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Petrozavodsk, Kaliningrad, Yaroslavl, and Kolomna. Each of these destinations offered a mix of cultural, historical, and recreational attractions, drawing Russian tourists during the autumn season.
The study, despite not attributing the name of the conducting organisation, provides valuable insights into Russian travel preferences during autumn. Saint Petersburg and Sochi emerged as the most popular choices, with Sochi's accommodation rates averaging around 2,500 rubles per day.
