Scenic train journey between Banff and Jasper National Parks will be available starting next summer
New Luxury Train Journey through the Canadian Rockies Unveiled
The Rocky Mountaineer train service is introducing a new route that runs between Canada's Banff and Jasper National Parks, starting in summer 2026. The new "Passage to the Peaks" train route offers a unique, immersive luxury rail journey, showcasing spectacular alpine landscapes, including Pyramid Falls, Mount Robson, and scenic glacial lakes.
This two-day luxury rail journey will take passengers through the heart of the Canadian Rockies, connecting the gateway towns Banff and Jasper. The journey includes a mid-journey overnight stop in Kamloops, a riverside town roughly halfway between Banff and Jasper.
Passengers will experience panoramic views from spacious glass-domed coaches, complete with gourmet meals and informative commentary from knowledgeable guides. Optional extended itineraries (up to 10 days) include hotel stays and excursions in Banff and Jasper National Parks, Calgary city, Lake Louise, and various other experiences such as cruising Lake Minnewanka, hiking on the Columbia Icefield, riding the Banff Gondola, and Jasper SkyTram.
The basic two-day train journey starts at about $2,107 CAD per person, twin share. Booking is currently open on Rocky Mountaineer’s official website, with travel dates limited to June and July of 2026 and available on select dates only. The route can be traveled in either direction, starting in Banff and ending in Jasper or vice versa, providing flexibility.
