Shark Wall Expedition Scheduled for 2026 at Fakarava
Get ready for an unforgettable diving adventure as Bluewater Dive Travel announces the Fakarava Group Trip 2026! Scheduled from August 29 to September 5, 2026, this guided group trip promises a once-in-a-lifetime experience in the heart of the Pacific Ocean.
The journey begins with an international flight to Tahiti (PPT) on August 28 or early morning of August 29. Once in Tahiti, guests are advised to book a domestic flight from PPT to Fakarava (FAV) on August 29 with Air Tahiti. Upon arrival, guests will be transferred to Havaiki Lodge for check-in.
The 8-day itinerary is designed to maximise encounters with the dense aggregations of groupers and sharks, especially at the South Pass, which is famous for the "Wall of Sharks" spectacle during the spawning season. The trip includes a total of 17 dives in Fakarava, with Free Nitrox offered.
The first four days will be spent at Fakarava North Pass, with three dives each day. The second part of the trip will be spent at Motu Aito Paradise, where guests will check-in after two dives at Fakarava North Pass on Day 4. The remaining days, from Day 5 to Day 8, will be spent at Fakarava South Pass, with three dives each day.
The cost per person for double occupancy is $3,995, and a fully refundable deposit of $1,000 is available until 12 months from departure. The payment schedule includes a deposit of $1,000 to confirm your spot, $2,000 due on September 1, 2025, and the balance due on February 1, 2026.
Guests will enjoy 4 nights in a bungalow at Motu Aito Paradise, without air conditioning. However, the first 3 nights will be spent in a beach bungalow with air conditioning at Havaiki Lodge.
Rental photo gear from Bluewater Photo is offered at a 25% discount, making it easier for participants to capture their underwater memories. For travel-related questions or assistance, contact Bluewater Dive Travel at 1-310-915-6677 or [email protected].
The trip is led by Bluewater Trip Leader, Tim Yeo, who will guide you through this extraordinary diving experience. Fakarava is renowned for its diverse marine life, including sharks, groupers, and vibrant corals. The water temperature in Fakarava ranges from 26-28°C (79-82°F) and visibility is 30-40 meters (100-130 feet).
Diving in Fakarava is intermediate to advanced due to strong currents in passes. Therefore, it is recommended to use a full-length Lycra skin or 3mm neoprene suit, strong fins, a surface marker buoy, a lightweight travel BCD, a travel regulator, a dive computer, and a hood or hooded vest.
While there is no specific "Fakarava Wall of Sharks Trip 2026" itinerary published in the available sources, detailed information from the highly similar 2025 Fakarava Grouper Spawning Trip—which features the renowned "Wall of Sharks" during the spawning event—provides a strong template for what to expect in 2026.
Direct flights are available from LAX, SFO, United, Air Tahiti Nui, Delta, French Bee, and Qantas. Flights are not included in the group trip packages.
