Sochi's Beaches Buzzing in November as Warm Weather Extends Swimming Season
Sochi's beaches are thriving with swimmers, with locals and tourists alike confident that the warm weather will permit swimming even in November. The water temperature currently stands at a comfortable 20°C.
The extended swimming season is due to an unusually long Indian summer in the Krasnodar Krai region. The scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center predicts this warm spell to last longer than usual, well into the first decade of October.
Sochi's central beaches, 'Mayak' and 'Riviera', have extended their swimming season until October 15. Lifeguards and medics are on duty from 8:00 to 20:00 daily to ensure safety during this period.
However, a recent incident at Sochi airport caused some disruption. On the night of October 2-3, the airport was closed for more than 7 hours due to drone attacks, leading to delays in both domestic and international flights.
Despite the temporary inconvenience at the airport, Sochi's beaches remain a popular destination for swimmers, with the warm weather and extended swimming season attracting many. The region's weather is expected to remain mild, allowing for continued enjoyment of the beaches until mid-October.
