Subhana Hazarika's Chemical-Free Farming Revolutionizes Assam

Subhana Hazarika, a pioneering farmer from Nazira, Assam, has revolutionized agriculture in her region. After returning to her ancestral village, she transformed her dream into reality, creating a model farm that produces chemical-free, value-added products.

Subhana's innovative approach includes preserving vegetables in their natural form, without oil, spices, or artificial preservatives. Her unique technique has led to products like tomato murabba and lemon peel candies. She also aims to revive forgotten indigenous herbs and traditional vegetables by creating natural chutneys and pastes.

Subhana's farm is a testament to her commitment to sustainability. She uses no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, advocating for fresh air, clean soil, and green spaces. Her two-bigha plot has been transformed into a thriving model farm, complete with a polyhouse and two fisheries.

Subhana's success has not only benefited her but also the community. She has trained nearly 1,000 women in post-harvest processing and preservation techniques, providing free training to women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. Her value-added products, such as pickles, earn her up to Rs 25,000 per month, demonstrating the profitability of her business.

Subhana Hazarika's story is one of innovation, sustainability, and community empowerment. Her chemical-free farming techniques and unique preservation methods have not only transformed her ancestral village but also provided a livelihood for many women. Her advice to young women - to have confidence in their abilities and never hesitate to try something new - reflects her own journey and serves as an inspiration for others.
