Sun PhuQuoc Airways, the newest entrant in the aviation industry, has made a significant stride with the delivery of its first Airbus A321NX aircraft. The aircraft, manufactured and delivered brand new from Airbus's Hamburg facility in Germany, marks the beginning of a safe, modern, and world-class fleet for the Vietnamese airline.
The A321NX is a variant of the A321neo family, renowned for its enhanced fuel efficiency, increased seating capacity, and advanced cabin configurations. Key features of the A321NX include an increased seating capacity of about 240 seats, thanks to overwing exits that replace the traditional second door pair. The aircraft also benefits from new, more efficient engines and aerodynamic improvements such as sharklets, leading to over 20% better fuel efficiency compared to older models.
The A321NX's passenger cabin has been upgraded, offering a more spacious feel with a higher ceiling and larger windows. The Airbus Cabin-Flex (ACF) layout enables various door and exit configurations for optimal passenger capacity and safety compliance by regulatory authorities such as EASA and FAA. The aircraft features a wide cabin (3.70 m / 12.1 ft), offering enhanced passenger comfort through improved seating arrangements and possibly quieter, more spacious interiors typical of the A321neo family.
With the partnership of Vietcombank, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is well-positioned to affirm its strong capabilities and contribute to the robust and sustainable growth of the aviation industry. Vietcombank will act as the lead bank in arranging the credit facility for Sun PhuQuoc Airways' fleet. The airline has signed a Framework Financing Agreement with Vietcombank for the acquisition of a credit facility to finance the purchase of 10 new-generation Airbus A320/321NEO aircraft. Sun PhuQuoc Airways adopts a "hub-and-spoke" network model, focusing on opening direct routes from Phu Quoc to promising tourism and economic destinations.
Mr. Le Quang Vinh, General Director of Vietcombank, believes that Sun PhuQuoc Airways' development strategy will quickly elevate the airline to affirm its position. The airline is expected to open ticket sales in October 2025 and operate its first commercial flight in November.
