Jennifer Law's professional journey is anything but typical. After spending around 14 years as the website and COO of a hedge fund, Law found herself at a crossroads. Although she could have returned to asset management, she was intrigued by the digital transformation taking place in the marketing world.
Law recalls, "Marketing was starting to become very digitized, and social media marketing was also on the rise. I was fascinated by the changes that were taking place." Seizing the opportunity, she took a leap of faith and learned digital marketing before establishing Buzzup Digital with a partner.
A Corporate Beast Tamed
Running a successful digital marketing business gave Law the autonomous environment she craved. However, she eventually missed the corporate structure and larger budgets associated with asset management. In response to a colleague's suggestion, she took on the COO role at K2 Integrity, a consultancy with a focus on financial crimes and regulatory compliance.
Law noted that the role "was a very different business from asset management," as the firm's "product is our people." She was, however, able to leverage her finance and management skills to add value and help the firm grow.
AI and Staffing Considerations in Today's Economy
